Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces

Quantum Fields and Fundamental Forces (QFFF) is a Master's course in theoretical particle physics at Imperial College London.

After the Theoretical Physics Group at Imperial College was founded by Abdus Salam in 1956, a one-year postgraduate course was developed.[1]. This later became the QFFF Master's course it is today.

The course takes 1 year in full-time and is supposed to prepare for a PhD in theoretical high-energy physics[2]. Proponents of the course argue that the small cohort of 40-50 students and the central location of lectures in the Theoretical Physics Group fosters a personal relationship with the professors[3][4]. The postgraduate course, like the Theory Group itself, is highly specialized on theoretical particle physics.

One necessary requirement for admission is a first-class degree or equivalent[5]
