Help:How to import articles → ? – The current title is quite misleading. The word "import" on Wikipedia has a very specific definition (see Help:Import), but this seems like a guide on how to copy pages from other sources, with no information on actual importation. I don't know a specific title that would be preferable, but the current one is not acceptable. Since importing is such a heavily-restricted function, and most other wikis have an import function, I feel that the current title does answer a question that some are likely to ask (say, for example, editors coming over from Fandom, which does generally allow import/export more freely, to my knowledge, anyways)
I think the current title is probably fine for the purpose of establishing alternatives to the import function, so if it needs to be renamed, something like Help:Alternatives to importing articles, with the current title redirecting to it (as it's still relevant) might be okay, but I'm not very sold on that title either. I think it would also help, especially if this is moved, to edit the intro to the page to indicate the difference between this and Help:Import and why it's relevant. We should just move this back to projectspace (where it was until 2017) and mark it historical: it's useful more as a window into how things worked in 2003 than as an actual guide for new editors. If we did that, I think the unclear title would be less of an issue. Extraordinary Writ (talk) 08:38, 1 February 2025 (UTC)
