Netflix announced the series in September 2020. The series was produced with the help of Ayrton Senna's family, with Viviane Senna stating, "It is very special to be able to announce that we will tell the story that only a few people know about him. Vicente Amorim was announced as the series' director in August 2022.Gabriel Leone was cast as Senna in March 2023.Kaya Scodelario joined the cast in July 2023.
The series was shot in São Paulo and Angra dos Reis, with additional filming taking place in Argentina, Uruguay, and the United Kingdom. Filming began in late 2023.
