Unbalanced
This article is written almost exclusively from the American viewpoint. Numerous quotations from American soldiers are featured without any quotations from Chinese civilians or (most glaringly) the opponents of the operation, the Chinese Communists. Only one historian ("author") is quoted, Henry I. Shaw Jr, who from what I can tell has written exclusively about the history of American Marines in and after WWII. No attempt is made to explain the perspective of the Chinese Communists except as filtered through the understandings of Americans at the time, who are obviously not a neutral lens. Basic facts about the PLA are ignored, such as the command structure in Hebei at this time (e.g., I'm not sure who the precise military commander here was, but it sure wasn't Mao Zedong himself). In short, the work reads like an official US Marines history of the events, not an encyclopedic account. SilverStar54 (talk) 05:29, 15 January 2023 (UTC)
