Mahdeea Jahan Eshal is a Bangladeshi-American singer, dancer, and performing artist based in Virginia, United States. She is the lead vocalist of the youth band Luminary. She gained recognition through national and diaspora-based competitions, followed by the success of her debut single, Lal Nil Bhalobasha in 2025.

Early Life and education

Mahdeea Eshal was born in Chattogram, Bangladesh, to Rokeya Jahan Hashi and Mahshadul Alam Rupam. Her paternal family is originally from Chandpur. She immigrated to the United States at the age of two. She currently attends Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST) in Virginia.

Music and Dance Training

Eshal began classical vocal training at the age of seven, studying Carnatic music at Hasthaswara Performing Arts. Since age nine, she has been mentoring by Utpal Barua. Also learned from Naser Chowdhury, and Bashar Shikder, and later received advanced vocal training from noted sitar maestro Irshad Khan. Eshal is also trained in various dance forms, including Bharatanatyam, Manipuri, and semi-classic, under the instruction of her mother Rokeya Jahan Hashi, as well as Sangeeta Agarwal, Rosemary Mitu Ribeiro, and Warda Rihab.

Competitions

Eshal placed as first runner-up in RTV Young Star 2023[1] and ranked fourth in Channel i Shera Kontho North America. She was also featured for her performance in The SpongeBob Musical at Thomas Jefferson High School.[2]

Debut Single: Lal Nil Bhalobasha

In June, 2025, Eshal released her debut original single, Lal Nil Bhalobasha. The song was written by renowned lyricist Kabir Bakul, tuned by legendary music director Sheikh Sadi Khan, and arranged by Ujjal Sinha with music coordination by Bashar Shikder. The music video choreography by Rokeya Jahan Hashi and was filmed by Andrew Biraj.

The song was released across platforms including Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and her official YouTube channel.[3]
