Louis Abramson scheduled for TFA

This is to let you know that the above article has been scheduled as today's featured article for 15 January 2026. Please check that the article needs no amendments. Feel free to amend the draft blurb, which can be found at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/January 2026, or to make comments on other matters concerning the scheduling of this article at Wikipedia talk:Today's featured article/January 2026. Please keep an eye on that page, as notifications of copy edits to or queries about the draft blurb may be left there by those who assist the coordinators by reviewing the blurbs. I also suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from two days before it appears on the Main Page. Thanks, and congratulations on your work!

By the way, 15 January will be Wikipedia's 25th anniversary, so there may be increased interest in the main page and therefore the TFA - good luck with that! Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 10:54, 2 December 2025 (UTC)

Technical news

  • Starting on November 4, the IP addresses of logged-out editors are no longer being publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account associated with their edits.
  • Administrators will now find that Special:MergeHistory is now significantly more flexible about what it can merge. It can now merge sections taken from the middle of the history of the source (rather than only the start) and insert revisions anywhere in the history of the destination page (rather than only the start). 2024 United States drone sightings

Hi RoySmith! Hope you're having a good December. I know it's a busy time, so no worries if you don't have time for a full re-review of the 2024 United States drone sightings FAC right now. However, since I've addressed the citation density and source reliability issues you raised, would you be willing to take a quick look and confirm whether those specific concerns are resolved? I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Anne drew (talk · contribs) 03:41, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

Notification mechanism

Regarding this edit: note modifying an existing comment won't generate a notification, according to Help:Notifications § Mentions. The easiest way to generate a notification when modifying a comment, for five or fewer editors, is to link to their user page in the edit summary (see Help:Notifications § Mentions in edit summaries). isaacl (talk) 17:27, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

Thanks. The rules around how pings work are far from intuitive. RoySmith (talk) 17:38, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

Request for opinion

I am thinking of writing and publishing a Wiki-graphy (a short account of my time on English Wikipedia) and wanted to get your opinion first.

I am considering mentioning a few editors I have learned from and, only with explicit permission, possibly using brief screenshots of talk-page exchanges or article sections. Usernames or excerpts would be included only if the editor is comfortable with that.

I would appreciate your view on whether this seems reasonable and appropriate. Thank you. MSincccc (talk) 08:14, 14 December 2025 (UTC)

To be honest, it seems a bit creepy. But that's just my personal opinion. RoySmith (talk) 12:30, 14 December 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for your response. I appreciate your view. For clarity, I have decided to publish an on-wiki reflective essay about my work and time here. MSincccc (talk) 09:04, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
