"World So Cold" was written by Adam Gontier and produced by Howard Benson. The song runs at 140 BPM and is in the key of G# major. It runs for four minutes and three seconds. The track was written prior to the release of the group's second studio album, One-X according to guitarist Barry Stock. The band had written the verse and pre-chorus at the time, however never transpired into anything.
