The European bison (Bison bonasus), kent as wisent or the European firth bison, is a Eurasiespecies o bison. It is ane o twa extant species o bison, alangside the American bison. Three subspecies existit in the recent past, but anerly ane survives the day. The species is stryndit frae a hybrid, a cross atween a female Aurochs, the extinct wild ancestor o modren cattle, an a male Steppe bison; the oreeginal hybrid is kent informally as the Higgs bison.
