Whoof that was a tough one to witness. I felt like your nom was an excellent one, in choice of nominee as well as content of the statement. I hope it won't get you down! VQuakr (talk) 16:58, 10 January 2023 (UTC)

You blocked this editor eight years ago and I'm still cleaning up the mess. Look at all the photos at Bastrop, Louisiana. I just cleaned Sterlington, Louisiana. Oh my! Magnolia677 (talk) 23:54, 11 January 2023 (UTC)

I miss your friendship and camaraderie already

You've done so much to improve the user experience on Wikipedia due to your active effort. You've always been better at Wikipedia than me. This space won't work as well without you, but for each of us there comes a moment. I'll live in hope that you grow uncomfortable without us. Until then, know you've earned my friendship and respect. I'm so proud to call you my wikifriend, a rank you joined when you opposed my first RfA twelve years ago. You were right then, and I have every reason to suspect you're right these days. Wikimania

Hello again. You are no longer active now, which is a shame, and it's sad to see another old sparring partner ScottyWong retiring too. But I was pondering whether to attend the Wikimania in Singapore and, as you're based in a nearby country, wondered whether you are likely to attend. As we both attended the HK Wikimania together, it would be nice to know whether there will be any familiar faces there.

If not, I may content myself with virtual attendance as it is otherwise not a good time to travel from the UK. So I'll look out for you in that astral form too.

A barnstar for you!

The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar
Society benefits from all your efforts with WP:NPP, Kudpung, but so few people know that you are the knight in shining armor/armour behind it. This barnstar is a small token of thanks for everything you have done to make it successful. Rosiestep (talk) 17:21, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

A cup of tea for you!

You've been absent for a while…

Do you remember me Kudpung? I was the tenth signature here and I believe you sent a message on my talk page back when I was just a stupid newbie getting into trouble. A lot's changed since then but we remember you still. Hope life is going good for you outside of WP. Fathoms Below (talk) 20:30, 10 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi Fathoms Below. I do remember because I had already significantly reduced my activity. It was about a closure or something. I hope I was giving you good advice though I don't remember what it was about. I see you are an admin now, congratulations. Keep up the good work! Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 20:51, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
Heh, my RfA was a mess of my own making. Hopefully it'll be the only major train wreck of 2024. Not sure about how much you've looked at but we've had a handful of other good things happen. Hey man im Josh, Novem Linguae, and Clovermoss have also been promoted in the meantime. May I say congratulations to them on your behalf? Or you can talk with them yourself of course. If this is too much chit chat I'll leave you to your guide. Fathoms Below (talk) 21:25, 10 November 2024 (UTC)
I have not edited for two years but as I have to consult the encyclopedia daily - as an encyclopedia - I have not been out of touch. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 02:01, 11 November 2024 (UTC)

I wanted to mention that your absence has been felt, especially at NPP. I hope you've been well, and I was glad to see you listed at WP:NPPTOP. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:56, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

January 2025 NPP backlog drive – Points award

The New Page Patroller's Barnstar

This award is given in recognition to Kudpung for accumulating at least 100 points during the January 2025 NPP backlog drive. Your contributions helped play a part in the 16,000+ articles and 14,000+ redirects reviewed (for a total of 19,791.2 points) completed during the drive. Thank you so much for taking part and contributing to help reduce the backlog! Hey man im josh (talk) 19:32, 6 February 2025 (UTC)

Drafts

Dear Kudpung, this is in response to the post you made to my page about excessive draftification, probably in response to my post to Joe (and, I think you also posted to Talk:Laurence D. Marks which I don't normally edit for obvious reasons). I tend to do NPP on academics/science topics, so I had not seen until a few days ago draftification by a less experienced user. Earlier today I went to check the articles and found that SafariScribe had already reverted quite a few by the same user, hence I am adding him here to the discussion.

I would definitely support your suggestion to limit Draftification to users with reviewer rights (NPP/NPR). I think most of them are fairly careful, and while a few may be a bit too gentle in their reviews (IMO) I have not seen abuse. I think Joe is pretty careful about adding NPP rights (and possibly other relevant admins, I have only interacted with Joe to date). I would allow extended confirmed users to tag for notability etc, that would be fine. Perhaps open a RfC at WT:NPR? Ldm1954 (talk) 23:26, 19 February 2025 (UTC)

Hi Laurence. Thank you for your feedback. Joe is a very experienced admin and a regular contributor to NPP both as an admin at PERM and a reviewer. Some research has begun into why backlog drives are possibly less effective than they were and I have not seen any misuse of the draft system by regular NPP right holders. A proper RFC for a new policy would be best launched on a NPR sub page, and supported by stats and empirical evidence. The stats are being gathered but I don't think we're ready for it just yet because it indirectly concerns a topic that might involve one or two other refinements to the Curation Tools and how we can better help new user who register with the prime intent of creating an article as their first edits. Declined speedy deletion: Pekara Maja

Hi there! I wanted to let you know that I have declined your G11 speedy deletion nomination of Pekara Maja because the article is not exclusively promotional. If you have any questions, comments, and/or concerns regarding this matter, please let me know. Take care, Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 05:12, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

Sent to AfD. The article serves only to promote a business under WP:NOTYELLOW. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 05:27, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
Hi Significa liberdade. I wanted to let you know that the CSD you declined was of course deleted as a result of an AfD discussion. One participant's comment was Delete. Nominator's reasoning could not be clearer or more valid. Regards, Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 10:45, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for letting me know. That said, I never stated the subject was notable--just that I didn't believe G11 applied. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 21:06, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
I don't think I suggested you did make a reference to notability, indeed notability was not the concern with this article. I am however reminded of a comment I once read made by an admin: When doing NPP and coming across an article with lack of evidence of notability and/or inadequate referencing, one has the options of draftifying it, requesting speedy, or starting an AfD discussion In my experience, if you draftify, someone will squeal and tell you in no uncertain terms you should have gone for deletion instead. And if you go for deletion, you will get heat for not draftifying. (Also, if you request speedy, you'll be told you should've gone for AfD, and v.v.) I think the technical term for this is "****ed if you do, ****ed if you don't" some of us have been working on an embryonic project for 2 years now which will hopefully make the control of new article easier for both reviewers and admins alike. If you are interested in knowing more about it or actively participating, do let me know and I'll send you a link. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:41, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi Significa liberdade I didn't get an acknowledgement for my reply above. Maybe the ping didn't work. If you are passionate about NPP, I realise you are not a coordinator but my offer to share with you what we've done so far still stands. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 00:59, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for pinging and inviting me, Kudpung! I would be happy to be involved. :) Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 01:04, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi Significa liberdade, it's not directly related to reviewing new pages at all so it may not be of interest to reviewers or even coordinators of NPP. An effort should be maintained however to avoid duplication of ideas that have long since been ruled out. What it will do is to significantly simplify the workload of reviewers by reducing the number of imperfect or inappropriate new articles in the feed. You can take a look at both pages for a summary of work done previously and if you are still interested, you can leave a comment on the talk page and eventually take part in the next video conference (this time without the Director of the WMF's Growth Team). I do believe your input could be valuable because although we may be generations apart, our academic careers have a striking similarity. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:04, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Thanks, @Kudpung! I'll take a look. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 03:07, 14 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi Significa liberdade, It's a very simple concept and easy in the making (much of it is done already), but from the perspective of linguistics, UX, and UI design, your ideas would be an essential contribution to the content of some of the linked pages that will summarise in a few words the walls of text of PAGs which new users will ignore (every freshy of Communication studies knows this). I am familiar with them only because I've been around on Wiki for nearly 20 years with my main focus on NPP. DYK that our notability guidelines are 44,035 words (up to 5 hours reading time) and that there are a further 113 essays on the subject? You'll see that rather than huge and broad, the proposal is actually tight and concise. Bear with me, once we can discuss it in a voice meeting you'll see how it's probably just right up your street. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 03:16, 14 March 2025 (UTC)

After a long while...

Hi Kudpung, I wonder if you still remember me. I guess you might have forgotten me since it's been years since we last talked. I do remember the days when I first joined Wikipedia and that was more than 10 years ago. Time really flies. I remember asking you for advice on the tiniest of things and looking back at our discussions last time, I was really disrespectful to you and I can't believe I said those things to you in the past. Looking back on those days, I realise that the young me was so immature and brazen. I guess it was years of adminship elsewhere and experience out in the real world that made me grow - having to make tough decisions and settle conflicts were not easy. Thank you for your words last time, especially because you were one of the few (apart from Callanecc) who gave me valuable advice when I was just starting out here. Wishing you good health too. Regards, Jianhui67 TC 19:58, 10 March 2025 (UTC)

@Jianhui67 I do remember you although you've been practically absent from Wikipedia for what must be 6 years or so now. I have been completely absent myself for 2 years, only recently returning to editing. I don't remember you saying anything disrespectful and I was always glad to help. Did you go to Wikimania in Singapore? It's not far from here at all but I couldn't make it. Is there anything I can help you with? Take care, Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 01:00, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for remembering me even though I was absent all this while. Indeed, I have not edited Wikipedia for quite some time, only making a few edits or reverts every now and then. I'm still somewhat active on other Wikimedia projects on an irregular basis. And no, I did not go to Wikimania in 2023 as I was busy with university at that time. Just reminicising the past and all, and I came to pop by to see if you are still around. It's nice chatting with you after all these years. I'm doing well outside, and I hope to return and create more content here when I have time. Best, Jianhui67 TC 06:28, 11 March 2025 (UTC)

Please do help me look at the page. And poosibly review if any issues let me know. Thanks Twicebefore (talk) 06:34, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

There is currently a backlog drive underway for reviewing new pages. Your article is in the queue but it may be a while before it is reviewed. In the meantime you might wish to address some of the drafts you have created before they get deleted. If there is anything you need adv ice on, don't forget you can always ask for help at the Teahouse. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:16, 24 May 2025 (UTC)

BLP

Hi, Kudpung - I didn't want to do this on the other editor's talkpage, but in response to your feedback to them, no, DOB is not essential for BLP. Per WP:BLPDOB, we really only include them if they're widely published or the subject has made it clear they don't mind them being discussed. Given what a high standard NPP-ers hold themselves to, I think it's good they don't inadvertently encourage people to add potentially problematic BLP content, don't you? Knew you'd appreciate the feedback! GreenLipstickLesbian💌🦋 07:20, 24 October 2025 (UTC)

ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:28, 18 November 2025 (UTC)

Administrator Elections - Call for Candidates

The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/December 2025/Candidates.

Here is the schedule:

  • November 25 – December 1 - Call for candidates
  • December 4–8 - Discussion phase
  • December 9–15 - SecurePoll voting phase

Please note the following:

  • The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
  • Prospective candidates are advised to become familiar with the community's expectations of administrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for admin elections candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
  • The process will have a seven day call for candidates phase, a two day pause, a five day discussion phase, and a seven day private vote using SecurePoll. Discussion and questions are only allowed on the candidate pages during the discussion phase.
  • The outcome of this process is identical to making a request for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA versus administrator elections.
  • Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.

Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. Later, a user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.

If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

You're receiving this message because you signed up for the mailing list. To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself from the list.

Pretty bold in making a prediction of the ArbCom election, but pretty accurate in the end! The final result saw Guerillero elected instead of Clovermoss, and every candidate managed to get over the 50% threshold, which may have been a first.
