Welcome to the Garage rock task force, a collaboration area and group of editors dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of garage rock and related genres and subgenres.


Goals This task force aims to do the following:

  • Standardize and improve existing Garage rock music-related articles
  • Create new articles about Garage rock acts and scenes
  • Improve Music genre-related articles that address Garage rock
  • Expand information in articles about related subgenres that include or are based upon garage rock
  • Encourage and facilitate translations of garage rock-related articles into different languages amongst Wikipedia's various affiliates around the world

Scope

This task force addresses articles relating to garage rock. This includes articles about garage rock acts from the US and Canada, as well as different countries, covering various time periods from the 1960s to present, including not only music from the 1960s, but more recent revivals.

Guidelines

Departments

  • Assessment : The assessment department focuses on determining and tracking the quality of Wikipedia's music garage rock articles; the resulting statistics are used to aid in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work. To see a topical lists of our articles with quality notation, see our Garage rock topics
  • Collaboration : The collaboration department seeks to identify articles that would benefit from a significant collaborative effort; every month, a one biography and one non-biography article are selected as the focuses, and the project attempts to improve them. The current collaboration articles are also the showcase articles on Portal:Garage rock.
  • Translation : The translation department serves to enhance Wikipedia's Regional and national music content by translating material from or to non-English articles and sources for use within the project. To coordinate this, it includes a staff of volunteer translators for various languages. This project will exist when someone gets interested.
